Cohesion
SRG portrays the reality of day-to-day life for everyone living in Switzerland and promotes cohesion and solidarity through its offering. It is therefore federalist in its structure and shows cohesion in its actions.
We are the only media company in Switzerland that produces audio and audiovisual content in all four language regions and in all of Switzerland's national languages. We provide services for the whole population, so they are geared towards people with a variety of requirements.
Unlike commercial providers, we
- take all language regions, and both majority and minority groups into consideration
- offer a variety of topics, content and formats
- create culture as well as portraying it
- strive for quality, credibility and relevance
- are politically and financially independent
- make our programming accessible to people with sensory impairments
Promoting cohesion is more relevant than ever. Almost four in ten people in Switzerland have a migration background, while a quarter of the population does not have a Swiss passport. Different educational backgrounds and regions, demographic shifts, and different cultural traditions and languages mean both opportunities and challenges for coexistence in Switzerland.
Our offering highlights this sociocultural diversity, encourages us to get to know each other and therefore improves mutual understanding. Thanks to regional revenue sharing, we are able to offer a full programme in all regions. Our offering connects people across languages, regions, groups and generations.
